Hello World!

I'm rebooting my blog – again. There are many reasons for this, but my primary motivation is to find a mode of blogging that I'm comfortable with. Fundamentally, I've hated blogging for the last few years but I also have this burning desire to run a blog at the same time. It's really weird. I like the idea of it on paper, but as soon as I get into it, it starts annoying me to have to write things on a regular basis and everything falls apart soon after that. Which is a shame, because I want to blog more; especially in English to keep my writing skills from getting rusty.

I think it has to do with being a professional writer. I started running into this at the end of 2012, a while after I'd started my first job as a journalist at The H. You write so much during the day that you can't stand the thought of writing more when you get home. You want to do anything but write. That's how I feel, a lot of the time.

On the other hand, I write a shitload of stuff on Twitter. Somehow, the tiny 140 character increments or the more off-the-cuff nature of it makes it feel like it isn't proper writing – it takes the strenuous part of it away. I could transition completely to Twitter and solve the problem that way. But I don't want to do that. Mainly because I don't want a random company from the US to control one of my most important means of communication with the world at large. I actually want to get away more from Twitter. The reasons for that are a story all in itself, though. That's maybe something for another day.

The goal then is to slowly move away from Twitter and turn this blog into something more akin to it. No focus on a particular set of topics, no arbitrary minimum length for posts and a more on-the-spot style of writing should get me in the right direction. We'll see if this works of it dies a horrible, slow death like most of my other blog projects through the years. I won't be able to start immediately either. The amount of stuff to do at work has been absolute hell lately. I am aiming to ramp things up slowly, hitting full stride some time early next year. Don't shout at me if things are delayed, though. One of the main goals of this blog refit is to take the strain out of running this thing, after all.
